Synopsis (via Goodreads): When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to shapeshifting car mechanic Mercy Thompson to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not. And she'll have to choose between the two werewolves in her life-whether she wants to or not.

Scoot’s Review:
Time has passed and Mercy is paranoid the Vampires will be waiting for her around every corner, but all of that goes on the backburner when events lead up to her old fae boss, Zee, being thrown in jail for something she knows he didn’t do.  Determined to get him free – despite the fae that want to keep him there - Mercy won’t let it go and puts her life at risk to save her friend and solve the crime.  The plot in this story is great; it is intricate as you try to solve the ‘who-done-it’ of the novel.  Characterization continues to impress as we learn more about a handful of sub characters, such as Ben and Honey’s Husband, while Mercy continues to be a strong lead.  Each character has a deeper substance that makes you curious about them – which is great.  An excellent edition to the series this story was an emotional rollercoaster.  Mercy is thrown through some major turmoil and traumatic experiences throughout the novel that had you torn up and heartsick with worry.   Add on top of that the heartbreaking and heartwarming romantic decisions and it was a bumpy ride.  Key word – decisions.  That makes me happy because so many series string the love interests along. I love a lead character who can make a choice and stick with it.  Another great addition and if you have started the series and like it so far, keep going – you will enjoy it!

MAJOR *Spoilery* YA Warnings: I know I have a lot of younger followers and I just want to reiterate that this novel is an adult novel and it touches on some hard topics as well as including a non-graphic rape scene.
