But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
Scoot’s Review:
I was a little hesitant about reading Paranormalcy because I was worried that a book with so many paranormals wouldn’t be good... too “jack of all trades-y”. I was wrong. I should have read this book ages ago because Holy Bleep I loved this book! Paranormalcy follows Evie, an orphaned teenage girl growing up under the tight control of the International Paranormal Containment Agency. Her job is to ‘bag and tag’ paranormals then send them on to a balanced and safe life within the limits of the IPC agency. Despite her “exciting” job Evie just wants to be a normal teen; going to a normal school and on normal dates. Evie’s life turns upside down when an unexpected event occurs and she has to question everything she believed about the IPC and herself. I found Paranormalcy refreshing and lighthearted. Evie is spunky, but knows when to be serious. I loved how level headed she was and how she made things fun (see Tasey: a pink bedazzled Taser gun and one not-so-small obsession for high school lockers). Throw in great supporting characters like Lend, Reth and Lish and you have a recipe for success. I loved the romance and the plot was twisty enough to keep me wondering. All in all, this book is a great read that I highly recommend and I can’t wait to read Supernaturally when it comes out this fall!
