I am excited to have had the chance to interview Jennifer Laurens. Jennifer is the author of ! I myself have had a chance to read Heavenly and you can read my review of it here!
...Check out Jennifer's great interview below!
About the Author:
"Jennifer started writing when she was in her youth, choosing to hole up in her bedroom creating stories rather than going out to play with friends. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she took classes in English and Theater Arts. Later, life took her back to her home in Palos Verdes, California where she worked in the entertainment business before meeting her husband and marrying. They have been married for 24 years. Jennifer is the mother of six children, ages 11- 23, one of whom has autism. She fell back into writing after lengthy jaunts into the fascinating hobbies of ceramics, porcelain dolls, tole painting and muffin making. Her perfect day is spent writing from 9 until 5 while her family is at school and at work. She considers herself blessed that most every day is perfect." (source)
1. Describe yourself in five words or less.
Loyal. Determined. Honest. Friendly. Creative.
2. What inspired you to write Heavenly?
My family. Our struggles to learn to accept and live with a child who has autism. I thought there might be others out there who were struggling with like issues.

3. How long does it take you to write a book? Does it all come flooding out really fast ...or is it a slow and steady process one section at a time?
3-4 months. Some books flow. Others, no. ( lol ) A Season of Eden flowed. Heavenly is my first series. The first book flowed. Book two was harder as each character had more issues. Book three was a nightmare. How to wrap up a story satisfactorily? The pieces floated in my head, but it was tough tying it all up. Still, I had faith I could do it and it ended exactly the way it was supposed to end.
4. What book are you reading right now?
Fighting Ruben Wolfe by Markus Zusak and Endless Love by Scott Spencer.
5. What is something interesting you learned during your research for one of your novels?
For NAILED I learned about the steps of building a house.( the main character works for her father one summer, building houses. She’s the only girl on an all-guy crew )
6. What is the first thing you notice about people?
How real or not they are. Discernment is one of my gifts. :)
7. You write Young Adult novels, but have you ever considered other genres?
I started out writing women’s romance. :)
8. What is on your mouse pad?
It’s a mousepad from The Social Network promo kit because I LOVE that movie.
9. Any advice for an aspiring writer?
Pave your own path.
Thank you so much Jennifer for taking the time out of your busy schedule to share a little of yourself with us!
