Waiting on Wednesday (55): A Confusion of Princes & The Crimson Crown

Time for "Waiting On Wednesday" weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine! Waiting on Wednesday spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

  Coming Soon...

A Confusion of Princes by Garth Nix
To Be Published: April 8th 2012 by HarperTeen

You’d think being a privileged Prince in a vast intergalactic Empire would be about as good as it gets. But it isn’t as great as it sounds. For one thing, Princes are always in danger. Their greatest threat? Other Princes. Khemri discovers that the moment he is proclaimed a Prince.

He also discovers mysteries within the hidden workings of the Empire. Dispatched on a secret mission, Khemri comes across the ruins of a space battle. In the midst of it all he meets a young woman named Raine, who will challenge his view of the Empire, of Princes, and of himself.

My Ramblings on A Confusion of Princes: I haven't read a great sci-fi in a while and this one sounds intriguing.  I have seen some good reviews on it at Goodreads, so I am really looking forward to reading it.  The cover kind of has a space-cowboy feel with that bandanna/cloth thing in front of the model's face.  Just a few more days and we'll see if this one lives up to expectations!

 Waiting for the long haul...

The Crimson Crown (Seven Realms #4) by Cinda Williams Chima
To Be Published: October 23rd 2012 by Hyperion Book CH

A thousand years ago, two young lovers were betrayed— Alger Waterlow to his death, and Hanalea, Queen of the Fells, to a life without love.

Now, once again, the queendom of the Fells seems likely to shatter apart. For young queen Raisa ana’Marianna, maintaining peace even within her own castle walls is nearly impossible. Tension between wizards and Clan has reached a fevered pitch. With surrounding kingdoms seeking to prey on the Fells’ inner turmoil, Raisa’s best hope is to unite her people against a common enemy. But that enemy might be the person with whom she’s falling in love.

Navigating the cutthroat world of blueblood politics has never been more dangerous, and former streetlord Han Alister seems to inspire hostility among Clan and wizards alike. His only ally is the queen, and despite the perils involved, Han finds it impossible to ignore his feelings for Raisa. Before long, Han finds himself in possession of a secret believed to be lost to history, a discovery powerful enough to unite the people of the Fells. But will the secret die with him before he can use it?

A simple, devastating truth concealed by a thousand-year-old lie at last comes to light in this stunning conclusion to the Seven Realms series.

My Ramblings on The Crimson Crown:  I can't WAIT for this one! I am really excited about this book, but at the same time dreading it's release.  I don't really want the story to end, but believe me - that won't hold me back from devouring this novel.  I am in the car a lot so I have been listening to audiobooks of the first three novels as a refresher before this one comes out. Raisa & Han FTW! (Also - the cover! I am really curious about exactly who's kingdom is burning down in the background...)

Check out my reviews for the previous novels in the series:
The Demon King
The Exiled Queen
The Gray Wolf Throne

great books you're waiting for! I LOVED garth Nix's Sabriel series so am really excited to try something else from him. I had forgotten it comes out so soon!

I read the first two books in the seven realms series, but have decided to wait for this next one to come out before I finish it.

I actually haven't read The Demon King yet, it's been sitting on my TBR for such a long time! I'm definitely going to be picking it up soon though, I've been hearing some great things about the series.
