Armchair BEA: Nurturing Relationships - FAIL.

I couldn't resist. lol.
So today's hot topic at Armchair BEA is on Nurturing Book Blogging Relationships!

Honestly, I am not your best source of information for this topic. I haven't really gone out of my way to build a relationship with a particular publisher, author, blogger, or bookstore.  I just kind of coast along, blogging away, and hope things will fall into my lap.

Does that make me totally lazy? Yes, yes it does.

I have on occasion sent a request letter to a publisher for an ARC, but have never gotten any response.  I much prefer to be approached by an Author or Publisher for a review or to join a book tour so I don't feel like I am begging for books. =)   However, I am an avid user of NetGalley and LOVE that site.  If you are a book blogger and haven't looked into joining NetGalley yet you should really go check it out!

I don't think there is really any kind of secret to approaching bloggers or authors... just be yourself! If they like you great - if not - life goes on. Right?  As I have said before, generally everyone is super friendly and as long as you are respectful and honest you will find your niche in the book blogging world!

I don't think its lazy, I think its doing what works for you. I've sent requests that I never hear back on. I just keep on going.

What I'd like to know is how to develop a relationship after you have heard back from someone. If you hear the answer somewhere, let me know.

I agree! Do what works for you. Reading and blogging should be fun, and if it feels like too much work then you won't want to do it as much anymore. And, it seems like you're doing all the right things :).~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte
