Synopsis
(via Goodreads): Nick Gautier’s day just keeps
getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake
up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to
claim his soul.
His new principal thinks he’s even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can’t even mention and the girl he’s not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.
But more than that, he’s being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn’t learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them...

Scoot’s Review:
If you enjoyed Infinity then you will enjoy Invincible. Invincible
was another fun read! This time there
were no zombies; but there was a creepy bad guy willing to kill anyone to get
what he wanted. Nick continues to be a
great lead. Nick is witty and an all
around good guy who defends his mother; and is just learning to deal with life
as a 14 year-old with recently discovered magical abilities. In this novel Nick learns more about his
future and his destiny (what everyone is trying to avoid). He also develops some new magical talents
that throw his life for a loop. The plot
has a lot of layers; there seem to be entire worlds of new characters and
abilities that we will slowly be introduced to throughout the series. I have not ever read Kenyon’s corresponding
adult series, but I still find these novels enjoyable and easy to read. The pace of the novel is good – with plenty
of action and quick plot-lines to keep the story fast paced and
interesting. Nick is only 14, but there
is still a smidgen of romance in the novel – which I always enjoy. Also, I just
wanted to say that I listened to the book on audio and the narrator Holter
Graham does a fabulous job. He has a
great way of making the story come to life.
Invincible is an entertaining
addition to the Chronicles of Nick series. The story arc for this novel was complete,
but the overall story arc of the series has plenty left to offer so I am looking
forward to the next book! Lucky for me Infamous
is already released so I won’t even have to wait.
